Be sure that you modify your blog so that it looks great on any type of mobile device. This is imperative if you’re using a blog to communicate with people. Your blog might look okay from the Android, but iPhone might slaughter it. You will need to get to work modifying it before other people are scared away.

Offer customers a reason to give you their mobile phone numbers. Have a sign at the register offering an instant one time discount. Give mobile customers first notifications of sales and new items coming in. Customers do not want to be texted without their being a good reason for it.

Make sure that your site and/or ads are consistent across multiple formats. Not every bit of mobile technology is the same, so you will need to adapt to them all. There’s nothing worse than working hard on a mobile campaign just to find out that people using a certain type of mobile OS are having trouble accessing it.

Do some research about mobile marketing before you start planning out your campaign. Make sure you understand what people will respond to, and how you can make mobile marketing fit within the context of your other marketing strategies. Hire a professional if you are not sure you can make the best decisions by yourself.

Do not wait to integrate mobile friendly marketing ideas into your sales plan. Individuals are buying smart phones every day. They work for a busy lifestyle on the go, and make it easy to get the information consumers want. If you wait to start your mobile marketing plan, you will lose customers. Your competition will jump ahead while you watch profits fall.

If you are having a big event or a sale on your site and you have a great mobile marketing list, send out a reminder a couple of hours before the event kicks off unless this is going to fall at early morning hours. This will remind your customers that you have something big going on that they should check it out.

Upgrade Your Mobile Marketing With These Ideas

February 22nd, 2012

One of the worst and most common mistakes that can be made when it comes to mobile marketing is the lack of respect for individuals privacy. This can be extremely intrusive when dealing with personal mobile devices. For more great tips on what to do and not to do with this type of marketing, read on.

Link to interesting websites. One of the fun things you can do to improve relations with your customers is to link them to sites you believe that they will enjoy. These can include blog posts, social networking sites, sweepstakes, or anything else you choose. Just make sure not to overdo it by spamming them.

To give your text messages a boost, use multi-media messaging! These messages can use additional features like photos or sound to give your message a bigger impact. These days, most phones can accept multi-media messages, and it’s smart to take full advantage of that. Pictures and music are much harder to ignore than a simple text.

Before you begin your mobile marketing campaign, look up your blog or website on the different types of mobile phones to see how good or bad it looks. You might be surprised to find that it looks great or you could be disturbed at finding that it looks awful. If it doesn’t look good, you have work to do. Modify your site and make it mobile friendly.

Remember that people who are using a mobile device to see your website will have a harder time navigating through. Make your mobile marketing campaign very easy to use, and though it may seem simple if you are using a computer, it will be perfect for those looking at it on a mobile device.

Use proper grammar even though a lot of the mobile world doesn’t focus on it. Using abbreviations and net speak like “LMAO” is just not how you want to conduct business. Be the consummate professional here and always work on using good grammar instead of slang or acronyms in your content.

Are you more informed when it comes to mobile marketing? Do you have a new plan or a better plan now? Can you now use things that work with your business? Do you know how to properly apply your plan? With any luck, the tips above should have created better answers.

What has smartphone done to us

June 18th, 2011

Mobile phone or some people call it hand phone is no longer just a communication tool. With features like camera, radio, video and internet access, it has made this small creature so addictive that once you use it, you can’t live without it. 5 years ago, my wife and I upgrade our hand phone with camera feature so that whenever we need a camera, it is always available. We no longer bound to take pictures on certain occasion like during vacation only, instead whenever we feel like taking a picture, we just grab our hand phone and snap. Reason because we carry our mobile phone whenever we go. So the camera is always with us.

Few months ago, my wife makes another upgrade. We look for mobile phone that has a very good camera features since my wife like to take pictures. After intensive survey and research according to our budget, we bought Nokia N8. At that time Digi just launched its smart plan package which comes with unlimited internet access. Since she also very active on internet, running her homemade coklat blog and active on facebook, we signed up the Digi smart plan and use her mobile phone as modem to connect to internet. It has completely changed the way we use the phone.

Since it is a smart phone and knowing we have unlimited internet access without having to worry on our data bill, she download a lot of applications. Not only that we even use the mobile phone for GPS navigation. I found it so attractive, that I even grab a smart phone as well and signed up the Digi smartplan. The smart phone that I bought (Android phone name IDEOS by Huawei) has the capability to turn itself as a Wifi hub, able to connect 5 devices at one time. So whenever I need an internet access, I turn it on and connect my laptop or tablet to it.

I like it so much. My point here is that a smart phone with a good internet data plan will become a powerful tool. It is not just going to be used as a communication device but much more. Recently I have seen people used their smart phone to pay their purchases at Starbuck, grocery stores and shopping mall using the mobile payment service (M-Payment). Now I use my smart phone to text messenges with friends using the interactive chats instead of sms, login to facebook, twitter and read news online. I even use it to watch videos online.

In this country, this is just a beginning. As more and more people use smart phone a lot of thing can change, provided they sign up with an internet data plan. A smart phone without internet plan is no longer smart. Imagine 2-3 years down the road. Mobile phone is no longer just a communication device.

The Best Deal Win

February 14th, 2011

After much discussion, research and thinking, today, I finally decided to switch my mobile network service provider from Maxis to Digi. Reason being currently, Digi is offering the Smart Plan for smartphone with unlimited internet usage at only RM68 per month and no minimum usage required. As for phone call, it will be based on usage basis.

The point I wish to highlight here is not to promote this package but to point that if you give your customer the best deal you can and on top of that your competitor can’t match it, you will definitely win the customer’s heart. In addition, the package perfectly suit my family need who mostly spent most of our time on internet, thus saving my money to have another broadband connection. Since the phone can be used as modem, I no longer need to have a broadband connectivity. Instead, I will use the smartphone as modem.

At the end of the day, it can be said in this case, the best deal win. Hopefully, I will reap the benefit and in the future, if there are other better deals, then why not consider switching again :-)

Social Media and Smart Phones

November 20th, 2010

I was once not a firm believer of smart phones. I always thought smart phones are just another expensive toys. All I care about is as long as I can make call and sent text messages, I would be fine. Recently, I was given a Black Berry, courtesy of my direct supervisor who want me to be able to read office email whenever I go. I also hook up my Facebook and Twitter accounts to it.

Yep, the usage is fantastic. Emails can be accessed and read anywhere anytime. I can reply immediately without using my PC and laptop. Then the fun begin. I started to update my Facebook and Twitter using the Black Berry. It struck me like lightning. I can now update and read my Facebook and Twitter instantaneously. I upload photo and immediately my friends start reading it and comments. Conversation flow in as I can reply to them via the phone itself.

What does this means? It means now, I’m an addicted users of social media and this smart phone. Should I want to change my phone, I would need to get another smart phone that can access to the social media sites so that I can continue my activities. This cause me to think that the future of social media and smart phones are so bright. They come hand in hand these days. Phone are no longer a medium to call but also a medium to access your social media sites and internet. No doubt it will not overwrite the need for PC or laptop but eventually, smart phone would become an essential tool. Previously, people cannot live without a hand phone. Now, they cannot live without a smart phone.

As for those who are in the business of marketing, these trends need to be analyze carefully. 2-3 years down the road, marketing strategy need to take into account of smart phone and social media users. It is the same when internet was born. Now, most marketers would advertise their URL in their ads too. For social media, you can notice that major ads would carry link like Follow us on Facebook or Twitter. This is becoming common and norm.

Now, imagine what will happen in another 5 years? With high access of broadband speed, probably the ads will be push to users smart phone, no need for them to watch it on TV. It is a possibility…
